Dance

Our dance program is intended to provide talented students the opportunity to grow both technically and artistically, as well as to prepare students should they choose to study dance at the college level.”

— Mary Rotella, Director of Dance

How do we teach?

We offer three levels of technique classes in which students study ballet, modern, tap, and musical theater dance. Dance history and the study of improvisation and choreographic skills are incorporated within technique classes. Because of our proximity to New York City, we have the privilege of bringing guest teachers and choreographers to campus on a regular basis.

Students are placed in the technique level based on ability and past training, not by grade. Independent study courses are available in the senior year with permission of the instructor, departments chair, and academic dean.
