New York Districts Providing Bus Transportation
Most New York towns and villages within a 15-mile radius of The Masters School that provide busing to public school students will provide busing to Masters students as well. However, it is advised that you contact your home school district’s transportation office regarding its specific policy on busing to independent schools. The deadline for requesting bus transportation through your home school district is April 1st.
All district school buses arrive at Masters by 8:00 a.m., in time for the start of the school day. Most buses return to Masters in time for each of two dismissal times – 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The time your child will be picked up in the morning or dropped off in the afternoon is determined by each individual bus company in conjunction with your local transportation office.

Metro North’s Hudson Line
The Hudson Line of Metro North stops at the Dobbs Ferry Train Station, which is located 10 minutes from The Masters School. Many students from New York City and northern cities and towns use the train each day. Masters offers a one-way morning bus service from the Dobbs Ferry station to the school. The bus will meet the trains currently arriving at 7:30 a.m. from New York City and the 7:50 a.m. train arriving from Croton.
Private Group Transportation
When a number of students are coming from a particular location not covered by public school bus service, families often arrange private group transportation. For example, our families living in the Northern Westchester, Port Chester and New Rochelle areas have arranged private bus service. The School may also facilitate a private bus option for students in New York City, Bronx and Riverdale for the 2013-2014 academic year. If you would like further information, please contact Ginny Deckelmann or call 914-479-6418. Current Masters parents can also access the contact information of parent coordinators in these areas in the 2013-14 Forms and Information section of the Parent Center in the Parent Portal.
Carpooling
Some families drop off and pick up their children each day. We're happy to help new families meet other families who live near their homes to facilitate carpooling.
