Welcome to Our Middle School
Each morning I look forward to greeting our 160 fifth through eighth grade students as they stream through the doors of our middle school building. They fill up the hallways and lounge areas with conversation, laughter, and energy. Book bags are deposited in lockers, sports equipment is put away, and musical instruments are stored until needed. Friends greet one another before they head into morning meeting or small group advisory gatherings. Each student knows that the day ahead will be filled with challenging academics, enriching athletic and artistic opportunities, and musical creativity.
At Masters we recognize that the middle school years are a time of great growth in a child's life. Our teachers understand and enjoy the vibrancy that pre-teens bring to the classroom. Our "whole child" approach encourages children to be all of the different parts of themselves--athlete, thinker, writer, talker, listener, artist, musician, warrior, optimist, or enthusiast--while moving forward with challenging school work. It is truly one of the joys of my job to watch as they discover and pursue their own talents.
I invite you to explore these pages to learn about our unique approach to educating middle school students: our gender-specific teaching methods in grades sixth through eighth, our theme-based interdisciplinary curriculum, and how we teach our students through hands-on experience, while moving forward with challenging academic work. Once you have gotten a glimpse of why we are so good at what we do, we hope you will come visit our Middle School to see for yourself. We look forward to meeting you.
I hope to see you soon.
