News From Masters
The start of the 2017-18 school year continued to unfold this week. As classes began, Middle School students met with their advisors, and the Upper School held its first Morning Meeting of the year.
On Friday morning, September 8, freshmen left for an overnight retreat at Greenkill YMCA Camp in Huguenot, NY. Sophomores traveled to New York City for the day with their advisory groups, with each group exploring different places, such as museums, Chinatown, or the High Line. Juniors, meanwhile, went to Long Island Adventure Park, where they took on the challenge of climbing, navigating and zip-lining along a high ropes course.
Opening Days for the Upper School began on August 26, as boarders returned, new students participated in orientation sessions, and dancers and fall athletes gathered in the dance studio or on the fields to practice.
On Friday, September 1, new Upper School students and their families gathered in the Claudia Boettcher Theatre, where they were welcomed by Head of School Laura Danforth, administrators, teachers and student leaders.
