News From Masters
Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer squads squared off against The Dwight School on Thursday in a final tune-up scrimmage before embarking on the regular season.
The boys — coming off last year’s historic run to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) final — once again look destined for big things.
Masters secured a 3-1 victory behind a pair of goals from Dexter Kalderon and another from Jiacheng Geng. The Panthers, who went 17-3-1 in 2016 en route to the Fairchester Athletic Association championship, open the regular season on Monday, September 11 at league rival Hackley.
The girls dropped a hard-fought 2-0 match; however, the outcome did little to damper the enthusiasm of playing on Reunion Field again. The immaculate grass contest field — which looked carpet-like — had not seen varsity action in six years due to construction of the Fonseca Center. Masters will travel to face School of the Holy Child in its season opener on September 11.
