Books circulate for a period of three weeks. Books on the reserve cart for a specific class or teacher and reference books do not circulate. Current issues of magazines and journals are for use in the library or in the McKnight Reading Room; past issues may circulate. Overdue lists are posted on the A to Z board twice a year, in December and May. The card catalogue can be accessed from school from the student's desktop under the icon “Destiny Library Manager.”
For remote access, log into public folders for the passcode.
A $30.00 charge per lost or un-returned book is calculated at the end of the school year, and the student's account will be charged. Library materials must be returned or paid for before seniors may graduate.
Use of the Internet at school is for educational purposes; research, class assignments and the online databases. Students should follow the Acceptable Use Policy currently in place. Teachers who reserve the library computers in advance for their classes have priority and students may be asked to move to another computer.
The library is meant to be a quiet, clean, well-lit atmosphere where all can read and study without being disturbed. Eating and drinking (except water) are not permitted in the library. Cell phones should be used outside of the library. Casual conversation should move to the McKnight Reading Room. Students who disrupt this atmosphere will be asked to leave. During break, 10:20–10:40 a.m. (M, T, Th, and F, 10-10:20 a.m.) the library is open for casual conversation. Once break is concluded, the library reverts to a quiet space once again.
It is a place for students to study together in a group; however, it is not a student lounge or a place where students may eat. The library printer is located here.
The Tower Room is reserved for the production of the student newspaper,Tower. Students may use the room when not in use by the journalism class.
The library welcomes donations; however, we reserve the right to accept gifts for our collection or to donate them to a local library.
