Application Procedures

Please call for space availability before you apply. 

Applications for fall of 2018 will be open September 1.

We are thrilled that your family is interested in pursuing a Masters education and we look forward to working with you throughout the admission process. To apply, please follow the procedures specific to the division/program to which you are seeking admission. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us

Middle School (Grades 5-8)

Step 1: Learn more about Masters
Before you apply, we strongly encourage you to learn more about Masters by exploring this website, joining us for an Open House and/or another admission event, and speaking with one of our admission counselors, who can help you determine if Masters is a strong fit for your child.

Step 2: Inquire
To officially begin the admission process, please complete the online inquiry form or call the Office of Admission at 914-479-6420. Once you submit an inquiry, we will send you a viewbook, related admission materials and event invitations, and periodic emails with important information and dates pertaining to Middle School admission.

Step 3: Apply
Our online application and school recommendation forms makes it easy to apply and it’s eco-friendly! We also accept the Standard Application Online.

Middle School applications are due by December 15, 2017. After this date, applications may be reviewed on a space available basis. Applications are accepted as long as there are spaces available or an active waitlist. Please contact the Office of Admission at 914-479-6420 to inquire about availability for the grade to which you are applying.

Step 4: Tour & Interview
Contact us to arrange a campus tour and interview by calling 914-479-6420. Appointments are scheduled when classes are in session, Monday through Friday. During your visit you will take a campus tour with one of our Gold Key student ambassadors, interview with an admission counselor, and have the chance to learn about the programs that are of particular interest to you.

Step 5: Test

All applicants will need to take either the ISEE or the SSAT entrance exam. The Masters School is a registered test site with several test dates throughout the year. Please see Events on Campus for specific dates and times.   ISEE Code: 331635     SSAT Code: 4948

Timeline and Important Dates for Middle School Applicants:

    • September: Call the Office of Admission at 914-479-6420 to schedule a campus tour and interview.
    • December 15: Applications are due
    • February 6: Admission decisions are released at 3:00 PM.

Upper School - Day (Grades 9-12)

All International Boarding Student applications are due by February 1, 2018.

* Applicants for whom English is not their first language: The Office of Admission requires that both an official TOEFL report, as well as the Student and Parent portions of the application, be completed and submitted before an interview can be scheduled. Additionally, an applicant’s TOEFL score must meet the minimum requirement for the indicated grade of entry to be eligible for an interview (listed below).

Part 1:

  • Family Information Form
  • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
  • Student Application
  • Copy of applicant’s passport page showing birthdate, city of birth and picture
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language:  Official TOEFL scores (School Code: 8103)
  • Application Fee of $150, by U.S. dollar check or credit card, for online applications

Part 2:

  • SSAT or ISEE scores (www.ssat.org, SSAT code: 4948; www.erbtest.org, ISEE code: 331635)
  • School Report/Recommendation from Principal or Guidance Counselor
  • Three years of academic records/transcripts/grades (current school year and the previous two years)
  • Current English Teacher Recommendation
  • Current Math Teacher Recommendation
  • On-campus interview  (can be scheduled prior to the completion of Parts 1 and 2 for students not taking the TOEFL)

Minimum TOEFL Scores by grade of entry: 

  • 9th Grade:    68   (Average score of accepted student is 85)
  • 10th Grade:  78   (Average score of accepted student is 95)
  • 11th Grade:  95   (Average score of accepted student is 103)

While The Masters School has a strong working relationship with a number of reputable consulting agencies who will refer candidates to the School, no agency can guarantee that its candidate will be admitted to our School.
