PMUNC is one of the most competitive conferences in the United States, with more than 1,000 delegates in attendance. The main purpose of MUN conferences is for students to simulate the inner workings of the UN. Students are assigned to the role of a country or particular person (for example, the secretary of state), and must research, write and present themselves as if they are acting on behalf of that country or person.
