Tatarian Cracks 1,000 Career Points

Brooke Tatarian ’21 cracked 1,000 career points at the Say Yes to Success Elite Prep Showcase on Monday, January 21.

The star guard achieved the milestone in a 75-48 victory over King’s Christian (NJ) at Monsignor Scanlan in the Bronx.

“It was a feeling of excitement throughout the game because I knew I was getting close,” Tatarian said. “When it happened, I felt such a sense of excitement and happiness because it’s a big accomplishment.”

The 1,000 points included those scored during Tatarian’s tenure at Bronxville High School, where she played on the varsity team as a seventh and eighth grader. Tatarian, who enrolled at Masters as a freshman, has amassed 785 points during her career with the Panthers.

Tatarian eclipsed the 1,000-point total after getting fouled and converting a layup off a cross-court feed from teammate Gwenn Sabato '20. She finished with a game-high 30 points and is averaging over 20 points per game thus far in 2018-2019.

While Tatarian was proud of the individual accomplishment, she pointed toward even bigger team goals heading toward the playoffs.

“I scored 1,000 points and that’s great, but the bigger picture is that I want to win a championship,” said Tatarian, who played a key role in guiding the Panthers to a runner-up finish in last year’s New York State Association of Independent Schools tournament.
