Posted 06/11/2018 12:15PM

Dr. Nikki Willis will join The Masters School as Head of Upper School on July 1, 2018.

She is currently Dean of Students for the junior and senior classes at Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City and has also served as co-leader of the school's diversity initiatives. She previously served as a Class Dean at the Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood, New Jersey, and Senior Class Dean at The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut.

Dr. Willis has also taught English at three schools: The Taft School, Hackley School, and Concord-Carlisle Regional High School in Concord, Massachusetts. She holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in education from Tufts University, an M.A. in cinema studies from New York University, and a Ph.D. in media studies from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Willis is as excited to be coming to Masters as we are to be having her join us. She says: "Throughout my visits to Masters, I was impressed by the generosity of spirit and sense of purpose shared by everyone I met. It didn't take long for me to learn that faculty members care deeply about both their students and their content area at Masters. In my discussions with students, they revealed that they are a welcoming, hardworking and engaging group of individuals. However, most of all, I was impressed by how insightful they were as they reflected on the aspects of Masters that they love and the areas they wanted to improve. Over my two visits, the thread that remained most evident was the sincere investment in the community that was shared by all. From student performances to athletic contests, I am excited to support the great work being done on all fronts. I look forward to getting to know more about such a dynamic community."

We welcome Dr. Nikki Willis – with our Might! – and invite you to join us in helping her and her family feel at home here when they arrive.
