The Mathematics Department seeks a math teacher who combines expertise in the subject with a passion for teaching, who is both creative and collaborative in the planning of instruction, and who is committed to the principle that the deepest learning occurs when students are afforded opportunities to “discover” the concepts for themselves. The candidate should have experience with or interest in the Harkness methodology of teaching which creates a student-centered learning environment.
- Teach four sections of mathematics.
- Collaborate with teachers of same courses.
- Advise students.
- Attend department, division, and all-school faculty meetings.
- Communicate effectively with advisors, class deans, and parents regarding student progress, as needed.
- At least 3 years teaching and advising experience, preferably working in an independent day/boarding, college preparatory school with similar culture and values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in being an active member of The Masters School community by advising, leading a student club, serving on a committee, and/or coaching.
