Varsity Girls' Tennis Squad Shows Promise
Posted 10/06/2017 08:00AM

It has been a promising season for the varsity girls’ tennis squad, which already secured three victories to surpass last year’s win total.

"With the move to the fall, we had a full preseason and more practice time," coach Greg Lesser said. "The girls have worked really hard so far this season and, as a result, are more confident during match play."

The Panthers defeated Portledge School, 3-2, on September 7, downed Maria Regina, 4-1, on September 22 and blanked Long Island Lutheran, 5-0, on September 28.

Seniors Daisy and Mary Sulavik have led the way with three wins apiece in first and second singles, respectively. Freshman Eliza Abady has two victories in doubles and one in singles.

The Panthers dropped a pair of matches to Ethical Culture Fieldston School and Kennedy Catholic this past week. Alexandria Batson and Ella Furniss won their doubles match against Kennedy Catholic.

Masters will travel to face Long Island Lutheran next on October 6.
