News From Masters
Upper School students will have a chance to immerse themselves in the culture of Senegal during the “Home Sweet Senegal” summer international trip from June 11-29, 2018. Participants will live with a host family from our sister school, Cours Sainte Marie de Hann, in Dakar.
Students interested in participating must submit an application by Monday, December 11 at 11:00 PM. The online application is available here.
A parent information meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, in the Library Conference Room. Video conferencing will be available for those unable to attend.
During the trip, students will experience family life, home-style Senegalese cuisine and the daily routines of a Senegalese teen. Students will also try their hands at bargaining at a Senegalese market, experience Senegalese dance, music and art; participate in community service projects with their Senegalese peers, and engage in other activities.
Along the way, students will also visit important historical sites, such as Gorée Island off the coast of Senegal, previously controlled by Europeans, where slave traders held their slaves before departing across the Atlantic.
The trip promises to be an exciting and challenging experience. For more information, please contact Robert Fish, Global Studies Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
