News From Masters
Masters’ Engineering and Robotics Team participated in the Zone VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) on January 10 in Farmingdale, NY, where 36 teams competed in the first VRC in the Southern New York State league.
“I really don’t have high expectations for the first competition,” says John Chiodo, Director of Innovation, Engineering and Computer Science, “but our squads need the deadline, as well as a forum to test what they have built and programmed thus far. However, the team did far better than expected.”
Squad B made it all the way to the tournament semifinals before being eliminated, Mr. Chiodo says. The squad consists of team leader Teddy Hoisington, Zachary Battleman, Alex Feiner, Evelyn Sabety and Henry Williams.
After the tournament, Susan Kennedy, the VEX regional manager, came to the team’s table to praise the work that Squad A did on its engineering notebook, according to Mr. Chiodo. Squad A is led by Louisa Chiodo and includes Mark Attar, Gabrielle Chernomorsky, Cole Feuer, Jonas Kolker, Top Piriyakulkij and Brandon Zazza.
The team’s next competition will take place on Saturday, February 3 in Freeport, Long Island.
