The pressure was unrelenting from the opening whistle. Purple jerseys swarmed the basketball like bees around a hive, creating a chaotic environment that Masters' varsity boys' basketball squad thrived in.
A whopping five varsity athletic contests highlighted Upper School Family Weekend on Saturday, September 22. The boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, girls’ volleyball, girls’ tennis and field hockey squads were all in action on campus from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
Faced with an early 2-0 deficit on September 12 at Hackley, the Masters varsity boys’ soccer squad refused to give in. The Panthers (0-1-1) rallied back to salvage a 3-3 tie in a match that showcased their grit and perseverance.
Athletes at The Masters School have been working tirelessly since the start of preseason training on Monday, August 27. They persevered in the face of extreme heat to get ready for the start of the 2018 regular season, which kicks off with a varsity boys’ soccer game at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School on Saturday, September 8.
The Middle School boys' lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season over The Stanwich School on May 10. The Panthers will be back in action to wrap up their season on May 23 at home against The Windward School at 3:30 PM.
Senior Oren Vasser captured the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) boys' varsity singles title on Monday, May 14 at the Hopkins School. Vasser, who will play at William & Mary next season, defeated Brunswick's Ryan Glanville (2-6, 7-6, 10-8) in the championship.
