Fifth and Sixth Grade
Students will have health class for two weeks per trimester as a part of their physical education rotation. Within each class, students will be involved in fun interactive, hands on activities that engage each type of student learner. The Students will participate in role playing, poster making, group discussions, and in-class projects that our students tend to love. Our goal is to get students to actively think about their current health behaviors and attitudes, and get them to a place where they make behavioral changes that influence their overall health in a positive way.
The eighth grade health curriculum covers the broad topics of decision making, healthy relationships (how to recognize healthy relationships, how to engage in healthy relationships, and how to support people who are not in healthy relationships), drug use with a focus on the effects on the nervous system and the developing brain, gender and sexual identity, sexuality, and sexually transmitted infections.
