Swimmers Meet World Champ, Update School Records

This past Friday evening proved to be a memorable one for members of the Masters swimming program.

The night started off in the Sharon Room with six-time world champion Megan Romano, who delivered a motivational talk about her path to success and then answered questions from Masters swimmers. Romano stressed the importance of having fun in the pool and refusing to give up in the face of adversity.

The group also watched a video of Romano's clutch gold medal-winning performance in the 4x100-meter women's freestyle relay at the 2013 FINA Swimming World Championships in Barcelona, Spain.

Romano remained on campus throughout the weekend, teaming up with 4UElite — an organization that operates swim clinics — to host a two-day clinic at the Hamill Natatorium. The program focused on fast starts, turns, breakouts and dolphin kicking.

Following Romano's talk on Friday, the student-athletes continued on to the pool to update the Masters record board.
Boys' varsity swimmers Marcus Diaz, Chris Epes and Michael D'Angelo and girls' varsity swimmers Ella Furniss and Charlotte Peterson replaced the old placards on the board with freshly minted records.
