Events Celebrate Masters' Global Diversity

Participants tried their hand at calligraphy, listened to African students play traditional Senegalese drums and engaged in other creative activities during the iFest international festival on Saturday, April 21, in the Fonseca Center's Sharon Room.

The next day, Masters community members shared a delicious meal of cuisine from around the globe during the annual International Dinner in the Dining hall. Students, faculty and staff prepared the food in the Dining Hall kitchen or brought dishes they had prepared at home.

At the iFest, participants shared facts, photos, art, food and other items representative of their homeland or a country with which they feel a connection because of studying the native language or other reasons. The International Club organized the iFest.

The menu for the International Dinner included fig pie from Dominica, Jollof rice from Ghana, chicken stew from Djibouti, cherry dumplings from Ukraine, koshari from Egypt, red porridge with cream from Denmark, pork and cabbage dumplings from China, kimbap rolls from Korea, and bissap, a homemade sweet drink from Senegal.

During the dinner, several international students entertained the crowd with three musical performances.
