Varsity Girls' Tennis Excels on the Court

The varsity girls' tennis squad hit its stride over the past week, going 2-1 with big wins over Long Island Lutheran and Maria Regina High School.

"A lot of our recent success has been due not only to a more consistent practice schedule, but the team's hard work during those practices," said coach Greg Lesser. "I've been impressed with the team’s ability to implement the tactics we go over in practice during their matches. As the season has progressed, it is clear that they are much more comfortable in match play scenarios, which has helped lead to some nice results."

Masters kick-started the hot streak with a dominating 5-0 victory over visiting Long Island Lutheran on Friday, October 5. Kira Ratan (8-0), Katie Accetta (8-0) and Jordie Troy (8-1) all recorded singles wins, while the teams of Alex Batson/Sofia Benson (8-1) and Morgan Brettschneider/Sophie Grand (8-0) came out on top in their doubles matches.

The Panthers rode the momentum into their home match against Maria Regina on Tuesday, October 9, cruising to a 5-2 victory behind a clutch singles win from Eliza Abady (6-2, 7-6).
