Spring Break Cultural Immersion Trip to Chengdu, China

The Masters School will be hosting an immersive Spring Break trip to experience the vibrant culture of Chengdu, in the Sichuan Province of China.

From March 10-20, 2019, a delegation of students from Masters will visit our sister school, Chengdu School Number 7, and experience a full immersion into Chinese culture, including a homestay with their peers from the school. This area is famous for its rich (and at times spicy) culinary culture, historical importance, as well as being home to the largest panda research center in the world.

Centered around understanding teen life in Chengdu and developing skills of investigating and understanding different ways of life, the trip focuses on activities with peers in Chengdu. Highlights include a Chinese cooking class at the Sichuan Cuisine Museum, practicing martial arts in physical education class, and visiting Chengdu School Number 7’s sister school for an overnight visit to the famous Emai Mountain.

We will hold a parent information meeting on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Library Conference Room. For more information, contact Dr. Robert Fish, Director of Global and Civic Exchange, at 914-479-6619 or robert.fish@mastersny.org.

In June 2019, Masters students will also visit Thailand. The trip will focus on meeting our Thai peers, visiting important religious sites, and experiencing and studying nature through kayaking in southern Thailand. There will be a parent information meeting regarding the trip to Thailand on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Library Conference Room.

Limited financial aid is available for these trips.
