Sixth Grade Continues Year-Long Exploration of Hudson River With Museum Visit
On Thursday, January 17, the sixth grade headed a few miles down the road to the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, New York.
There, they explored four exhibits: the sculptures of Maya Lin in A River is a Drawing; the Hudson Riverama room; paintings from the Hudson River School in the permanent collection; and Glenview, the museum’s on-site Victorian mansion.
The explorations at the museum complemented the students' year-long Hudson River curriculum, a hands-on, experiential study that includes seining in the Hudson River; overlooking the river at West Point; and canoeing on the river at Constitution Marsh, a 270-acre fresh-water and brackish tidal marsh located between Constitution Island and the eastern shores of the Hudson River in Garrison, New York.
