Photography Students See New York City Through New Lens

The streets and people of New York City provided inspiration for Upper School students in Ms. Langosch’s digital photography and photo major classes, as the group headed to the city last week for a day of experiential learning.

Students began the day at the International Center of Photography, where they toured Run-On of Time, a retrospective show on the photographer Eugene Richards. The tour was led by Saul Robbins, a photographer and educator, who took the students through the gallery and asked them to reflect on a series of images.

Following the tour, students braved the cold for a street photography workshop, where they captured images of each other, passersby they encountered and various aspects of city life. The backgrounds to their street portraitures included two areas of the city: the Bowery and Grand Central Station.
