Soccer Star to Play at Morrisville

Jennyfer "JJ" Marquez '19 celebrated her college commitment before a large group of friends, family, teammates, teachers, coaches and administrators during a ceremony held on Wednesday, March 6, in the Sharon Room.

The girls' soccer standout is poised to continue her career at SUNY Morrisville, a Division III program that competes in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

Marquez, a versatile and skilled talent with the ability to play a number of different positions, earned All-Western New England Prep School Soccer Association honors during the 2017-18 season. She also played an important leadership role during her tenure with the program, serving as the squad's captain this past season.

"She has blossomed into a young women who is a leader and is very strong-minded," varsity girls' soccer coach Hernando Santamaria said. "She has impeccable character."

Marquez highlighted both Santamaria and athletic director Kevin Versen for providing support during her journey at Masters.

"Hernando has been like a dad to me and he believed in me when nobody else did," Marquez said. "And thank you to Mr. Versen for helping the girls' soccer program — and all the athletics at Masters — to grow."
