Middle School Musical Channels Dr. Seuss

The Middle School presented a clever, whimsical and impressive production of the musical Seussical yesterday evening, Thursday, March 7, and today, Friday, March 8.

Middle School students and faculty gathered in the Claudia Boettcher Theatre during the day-time performance on Friday for the Seussian production.

The musical, directed by Jason Reiff, a faculty member in the Department of Performing Arts, is based on the children's stories of Dr. Seuss, primarily Horton Hears a Who!, as well as The Lorax, The Cat in the Hat and others. The 20 students in the cast took on the roles of various Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the elephant, the cat in the hat and citizens of Whoville.

The set that the 11 members of the student production team constructed and managed was true to the worlds that Dr. Seuss created in his books, filled with colorful trees and fantastical props. It was a fittingly joyful and enjoyable way for the students to spend the final day before beginning their spring break.
