Students Participate in Climate Ribbon Art Project

Colorful ribbons hung from a handful of trees on the campus quad, the culmination of an activity called The Climate Ribbon that the Middle School participated in on Friday, September 27.

The Climate Ribbon is a storytelling project meant to inspire a community to “move from climate grief to climate action.” The activity is simple: Students each wrote words and phrases on the ribbon in response to the question “What do you love and hope to never lose to climate chaos?” and then tied their ribbons to trees on campus. Student answers ranged from “family and nature” to “walruses” and “snow and cold weather.”

To see the ribbons, read Middle School students’ notes, and add your own ribbon to the project, head over to the front of Morris Hall, where three trees have been decorated with students’ art.
