Varsity Athletic Squads Hit Their Stride

It was a successful week for Masters' varsity athletic squads, as girls tennis, girls volleyball and boys soccer all recorded victories.

Girls volleyball began the week with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-18) win at the Harvey School on Monday, October 1. 
 
"Natalie Lockhart did a phenomenal job running the offense with the help of Dahlia Melnick and Hannah Kreutzer," Coach Chanel Flowers said. 
 
Flowers noted that Sophia Herzberg led the team in kills, while Gwenn Sabato and Ashleigh Woodruff also contributed to the team effort. 
 
The Panthers kept it rolling at Packer Collegiate Institute on Tuesday, October 2, securing a 3-1 victory. 
 
Girls tennis blanked Avenues: The World School, 5-0, on Wednesday, October 2 at Queens College. Hanna Schiciano, Kira Ratan and Anastasiia Gorobets all recorded singles wins, while the teams of Eliza Abady/Carol Queiroz and Ella Mathas/Alexis Estime completed the sweep with doubles victories. 
 
Boys soccer went 1-1 on the week, highlighted by a convincing 5-1 win over visiting Long Island Lutheran on Monday, October 1. Kyle Benson led the way with a hat-trick, while Wonjun Lee and Dominic Florian tallied one goal apiece. Masters then lost a hard-fought 1-0 game against visiting Loyola School on Thursday, October 3.
