Immersion Senegal! Summer Program in Senegal 2020

In June 2020, a group of upper school students will immerse themselves in the culture of Senegal on our Immersion Senegal! Summer International Trip.

Participants will live with a host family from our sister school, Cours St. Marie de Hann, in Dakar. While there, students will experience family life, homestyle Senegalese cuisine, and the daily routines of a Senegalese teen.

Together with their host siblings, they will also visit important sites in Senegal. Students will try their hands at bargaining at a Senegalese market; experience Senegalese dance, music and art; and participate in community service projects with their Senegalese peers; and many other activities. Along the way, they will also visit important cities such as St. Louis; Louga (Lompoul); and Somone, where they will visit important historic sites, such as Gorée Island, an island off the coast of Senegal that was previously controlled by Europeans, where slave traders held their slaves before departing across the Atlantic.

The trip promises to be an exciting and challenging experience. Financial aid will be available. Student applications are due on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, by 11:00 p.m.
