Middle School Students Show Off Talents at Fall Show

Poets, musicians and dancers took the stage in the Claudia Boettcher Theatre to showcase their creative skills at the annual Middle School Fall Talent Show on Friday, November 22.

Students performed original music and poetry, and gave new life to existing songs, including the operatic number “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables and the perennial crowd-pleaser “YMCA” by The Village People. “Whether it was a solo act or a larger group performing, every child demonstrated courage and bravery,” Middle School Performing Arts Coordinator Katie Meadows said, reflecting on the event. “For me, the talent shows are always such Masters moments. I’m proud to be part of a community where we embrace one another in moments of vulnerability.”

Matthew VanWright ’25, who has performed in previous talent shows and shared an original poem this time around, said: “I like that anyone can express their feelings. There was a great vibe with the audience!” Those participating for the first time had an equally meaningful experience. Serena Sharma ’25 said: “This was my first Master’s talent show, and I saw so much talent! It felt amazing to be up there on stage and also see my friends perform as well.”

Each performance was met with cheers from the audience — a testament to the bravery and hard work of each student who shared a talent or passion with the crowd. The impressive array of performances was a grand end to a special day.
