Mandarin Students Celebrate Chinese History and Culture
On Tuesday, January 28, eighth grade Mandarin students learned about Chinese history and culture, all while enjoying a spread of traditional Chinese food.
While feasting on roasted pork buns, chicken and vegetable dumplings, fortune cookies, and White Rabbit Creamy Candies, students took turns presenting about topics they had researched, including the first emperor of China; the Silk Road; and important cities, including Hong Kong, Shanghai and Suzhou.
“I hope that the students learn, not only the Chinese language, but the history and culture as well,” Mandarin teacher Tang Di explained. She noted that the students particularly enjoyed the food: “They devoured everything!”
