Varsity Girls Basketball Advances to NYSAIS Semifinal
The varsity girls basketball team kicked off its New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) title defense on Thursday afternoon at home.
The No. 2-seeded Panthers defeated No. 10-seeded Chapin School, 60-44, to advance to Saturday's semifinal round against No. 3-seeded Columbia Prep. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Fonseca Center.
Masters pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat Columbia Prep, 64-57, in the regular season meeting between the two teams back on December 11.
Gwenn Sabato ’20 powered the Panthers against Chapin, stuffing the stat sheet with 19 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and five assists. Brooke Tatarian ’21 added 16 points and five rebounds, while Noemia Massingue ’20 chipped in 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
