Varsity Girls Soccer Team Connects Virtually

Not even social distancing and remote learning could stop members of The Masters School's varsity girls soccer team from continuing to build team chemistry.

A handful of players — Ava Lederman ’22, Tara Phillips ’23, Kwynne Schlossman ’22, Hannah Florian ’23, Stephanie Sanchez ’22 and Frannie Mann ’21 — virtually juggled a soccer ball between their respective houses in a video posted on Instagram.

"We wanted to create a video as a team (or whoever could participate) whether it was doing pushups, or passing a soccer ball, and we had seen a ton of teams from all around the world passing and juggling a soccer ball to each other virtually," said Mann, a standout goalie for the Panthers. "We thought it would be fun if our team took part!"

Mann and Schlossman teamed up to edit the video together.

The experience offered a unique moment to practice teamwork during these difficult times. Still, the girls can't wait to reunite in the flesh and continue building on last year's stellar 8-7-1 campaign.

"I’m most excited about waking up early on game days to get pumped with the team, running fitness drills in practice, laughing until we can’t breathe on and off the field, and being surrounded by the most encouraging and amazing team out there," Mann said. "Each and every girl on the team never fails to put a smile on my face, even on the worst of days. We have such a strong sense of community that will never be broken. Hopefully we will have a great season this year, and all of the hard work we have been putting in since the end of last season pays off!"
