Masters Family Gives Back to Local Health Care Workers

Health care workers at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, received a heart-warming — and delicious — surprise thanks to Serena Sharma ’25 and her family.

On Sunday, May 3, the Sharmas provided a pizza truck from a local pizzeria that churned out fresh-from-the-oven pies throughout the day. But that wasn’t all: The seventh grader, her sister and several friends created hand-made thank you cards to accompany each of the 550 pizzas.

“The hospital workers were very appreciative and touched by the gesture,” Janill Sharma P’25 said. “They loved the personalized cards by the children, they even posted them to their Facebook pages.” The Masters parent shared that doctors, nurses, and the Army wing of the doctors came out to say hello and talk with the children.

Throughout the pandemic, the Sharma family has been living Masters’ mission — to be a power for good in the world — by doing what good they can for those around them, such as by purchasing meals for police officers, masks for grocery store workers, grocery gift cards for senior citizens, and more. Sharma explained the importance her family places on supporting their community: “In times like this, a small act of kindness can go a long way to change the outcome in someone else’s life.”
