The grade-level events included picnics and a host of games. Upper school students even got to take turns attempting to soak Head of Upper School Peter Newcomb in a dunk tank.

Dean of Students Jeff Carnevale shared that, in addition to fun and games, upper school students took part in a variety of bonding activities where they got to reconnect with old friends and get to know new ones. They also took time to talk about the start of school. “One student walked away saying it was the most fun she’d had in months,” Carnevale said.

Head of Middle School Tasha Elsbach said that the planned activities for middle school students encouraged them to find commonalities with others and share fun facts about themselves. For example, fifth and sixth grade students were tasked with finding classmates who liked the same flavor of ice cream or shared the same birthday month.

“Having kids back on campus has been incredibly rejuvenating,” Newcomb said. “To witness their exuberance over seeing one another and their teachers, to hear their voices and fits of laughter, that has been really restorative after not having students and faculty on campus for the past six months.”
