The winning team, Dani Appiah ’22 from Ghana; Andrew Chang ’22 and George Chang ’22, both from Taiwan; and Viktoriia Sokolenko ’23 from Ukraine, had entered the national humane technology competition, held by the Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership (BCIL) and the Center for Humane Technology.

The prize for being a finalist includes a meeting next week about their winning proposal to a panel of prominent thought leaders, including several featured in the Netflix documentary “The Social Dilemma.”

“They were determined to figure out how technology could transform complex global systems to address climate change in a positive way,” White said. “I have no doubt their assiduity, originality and collaborative spirit will stand out as a ‘power for good.’”
