Model UN Team Off to a Winning Start

Seventeen Masters delegates, comprised of freshmen, sophomores and juniors, addressed timely issues ranging from world hunger and poverty to environmental denuclearization and women’s reproductive rights in public healthcare. For many, this was their first conference. 
 
MUN faculty advisor and middle school languages teacher Brittany Farrar was filled with joy as she witnessed the team members “share their ideas and work towards compromise with delegates from all over the United States.”  
 
Masters students who earned accolades at the conference include:
 
Verbal Commendation - Lucas Camacho '25 and Annabelle Rosenbluth '25
Honorable Delegate - Lorelei McCarthy '23
Outstanding Delegate - Aviv Emery '24
Best Delegate - Ella Dundas '23
 
Twelve Masters student delegates participated in the virtual Princeton MUN Conference on November 11-14, and Violet Paull ’24 took home an Honorable Delegate award.
 
Farrar lauded the group’s efforts. “Our beginners are in a far stronger place than usual heading into the height of our season,” she said. “Our returning delegates are showing stamina in longer virtual conferences, getting to know their own strengths as individual delegates, and learning how they can make the biggest positive impact on the team.”
 
The upper school team is now preparing for the Bronx Science MUN virtual conference on December 11. The team is also looking forward to big winter conferences at American University, being held virtually January 28-30, and the team’s first in-person conference, to be held at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., on February 17-20.
