Seventh Grade Boys Basketball Team Ends Season on High Note

It was a fantastic close to the season for Masters' seventh grade boys basketball team on Thursday, February 24, at the Fonseca Center.

The Panthers jumped out early and held on late to secure a stellar 26-19 victory over visiting Eagle Hill.

Aarav Singh (eight points) and Ian Krakowsky (seven points) powered the offense, however, it was a true team effort for the Panthers. Seven of Masters' 10 players contributed offensively and all 10 recorded either a rebound, a steal or a key extra pass to break Eagle Hill's zone defense.

Overall, it was a year of tremendous growth for the squad, according to coach Neil Jaggernauth.

"This game showed just how far the team has come in terms of being able to run 'our stuff,' and execute successfully against another team," Jaggernauth said. He noted that the team worked alongside the eighth grade team during practices to further sharpen their skills. "As coaches, we have worked hard to vertically integrate our programs so the seventh grade, eighth grade and high school teams are all building off each other. Therefore, I look forward to continuing our work with these students next year as eighth graders."

Indeed, Jaggernauth envisions a bright future for this current crop of seventh graders.

"As someone who also works with the high schoolers, I am confident that some of these players will be able to help our programs out down the line, as well," Jaggernauth said.
