Good Talk: A Community Conversation with Mira Jacob

This spring, being a power for good as a Masters School community member starts here. And you’re all invited.

In celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, “Good Talk: A Community Conversation with Mira Jacob,” takes center stage in a special online event hosted by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS). Open to all Masters School community members, the conversation takes place via Zoom on Tuesday, May 10, at 4:00 p.m. You must register here to participate in this free event.

Spend the afternoon with Jacob as she discusses “Good Talk” with members of the NYSAIS Diversity Committee: Arhm Choi Wild, Director of the Progressive Teaching Institute and Upper School Diversity Coordinator, Ethical Culture Fieldston School; Nayantara Mhatre, Middle School Dean of Students, The Calhoun School; and Morika Tsujimura, Math and Science Teacher and Middle School Liaison to Office of Community Engagement, Grace Church School. A Q & A session will follow the discussion.

The New York Times Book Review describes “Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations” as one of the best books of the year. It is a unique and captivating graphic memoir about American identity and interracial families by author, illustrator and cultural critic Mira Jacob.

Jacob, author of “The Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing,” is a founding faculty member of the MFA Program at Randolph College and is a visiting professor in the MFA Creative Writing program at The New School. She is the co-founder of Pete's Reading Series in Brooklyn.
