Boys 4x100 Relay Breaks School Record

Cameron Lovett ’23, Nicholas Lusardi ’23, Oluwademilade (Demi) Oni ’23 and Ian Stein ’23 combined to run a blazing time of 44.65 seconds, smashing a school record that was set earlier in the season. The impressive time was good for third overall in the High School Boys' Prep School Independent division.

"I think the biggest key to us running so well in our heat was the motivation to place well at a very prestigious event that Masters hadn't been to in four years," Oni said. "When we first walked into the stands at Franklin Field, all four of us were awestruck by how many people there were, and even at practice at school leading up to us leaving for Penn we were super excited. But as soon as we lined up on the track for our heat, we were locked in and ready to run our hardest for our School."

Oni knew the 4x100 team was special heading into the season. 

"I definitely knew we had record-breaking potential before the season even started," Oni said. "The record had already been broken with a slower time at the first meet this season, so it was easy to imagine on a bigger stage, with higher stakes, we'd just run even faster. And we plan to keep on lowering the record until the season ends."

Both the boys and girls varsity track teams turned in stellar performances at the Fairchester Athletic Association Track Invitational on Tuesday, May 2 at Greene Family Field. The boys placed first out of six teams with 106.5 points, while the girls took second with 69 points.

Oni was the standout for the boys, clocking in a time of 23.04 seconds to take first place in the 200 meters. Charlie Milward ’24 also recorded second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.64. 

Ashleigh Woodruff ’23 paced the girls with a first place finish (4-06.00) in the long jump, while Immanuelle Kennerly ’25 ran a time of 29.44 seconds to place second in the 200 meters. Emma Barnes ’26 also placed second (13-03.50) in the long jump.
