Four College-Bound Athletes Celebrated

Seniors Adam Bello (Bowdoin/basketball), Emmanuel Harris (Marist/track), Jake Mason (Denison/track) and Henry Hubner (Bard/baseball) were all recognized in a ceremony that included teammates, peers, administrators, family and coaches. 

“We are so proud of Adam, Manny, Henry and Jake, as it is an incredible accomplishment to compete at the college level," Director of Athletics Logan Condon said. "More importantly, each one of the four are strong students, active community members and live the Masters mission for being a power for good."

Bello guided the varsity basketball team to a stellar 2023-24 season, which culminated in an impressive run to the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) semifinal round. He averaged 16.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and was named to the all-FAA first team and Class A honorable mention in the highly competitive New England Preparatory School Athletic Council.

Mason starred for the Panthers on the track, turning in a number of head-turning short-distance performances. In the 2023-24 indoor season, he placed second in the 100 meters at the New York Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) championships. Mason was also a member of the school record-breaking 4x100-meter team and the 4x400-meter squad that set a school record and finished fourth at the Nike Nationals. This past spring he was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that set a school record while also placing first at the FAA championships. 

Harris came into his own during the spring of his junior year, taking the high school hurdles world by storm. He won a trio of gold medals at the FAA championships in the 4x100-meter relay, 300-meter hurdles and 110-meter high hurdles. Harris holds school records in three hurdles events: 300 meters, 400 meters and 110 meters high. As it stands, he's the No. 1 300-meter hurdler in the state of New York.

Hubner, a two-year captain of the varsity baseball team, has been a rock for the program. In 2024, he posted a .400 batting average, led the team in on base percentage, was second in on-base plus slugging and second in slugging. On the mound, he was even more dominant, recording four wins while posting a minuscule 1.21 earned runs average. Opposing batters could only muster a .114 batting average against him, as he stuck out 67 over 34 innings pitched.
