Discover Your Artistic Might

The Masters School takes great pride in the strength of its performing and visual arts programs. Art is a vital way for you to get to know yourself and others. It builds confidence and develops empathy. While the arts are an integral part of the curriculum, you can also make the most of a broad range of co-curricular arts opportunities, such as dance, drama, painting, photography and music in its varied forms.

Located just 12 miles from the vast resources of New York City, you can attend plays, musicals, opera and other performances on a whim. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Metropolitan Opera, the Museum of Modern Art, Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Whitney Museum of American Art are just a few of the world-class institutions awaiting a visit.
Practical experiences shape learning at Masters, so having easy access to New York City is an immeasurable advantage.

Arts for All

Masters doesn’t wait until Upper School to encourage participation in the arts. Our Middle School offers many curricular and co-curricular arts opportunities. Arts classes are taught four times per cycle, with instruction in piano, music theory, composition, world music, drawing, painting, puppetry, photography, and more. Middle School co-curricular groups include three rock bands, jazz band, orchestra, choir, percussion ensemble, and musical theater troupe.

Once in the Upper School, participation in the arts continues. There are nine curricular music ensembles, 11 student-directed performing groups, eight major theater productions, over 20 different visual arts classes, plus cross-disciplinary opportunities, such as The Great Gig in the Sky. Students can also enroll in individual private lessons - there is no limit to the breadth and depth of artistic instruction students can receive. There are over 50 performances on campus each year.
