Nyasha Chiundiza

  • Nyasha Chiundiza

    English and History and Religion

    Nyasha recently taught humanities and philosophy at The FlexSchool in New Haven, Connecticut, and was an adjunct professor at Bard College’s Brooklyn Microcollege. Nyasha received a B.A. in English and philosophy from Burlington College, an M.A. in Liberal Studies from The New School for Social Research, an M.A. in philosophy of religion from Yale Divinity School, and an M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts’ art writing program.

Kristina Gremski

    For the past 14 years, Kristina taught at Sacred Heart Greenwich, and served as Chair of the Upper School Science Department. The National Association of Biology Teachers recently named Kristina Connecticut’s Outstanding Biology Teacher of the Year. Kristina earned a B.S. in biology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in biology from University of California, San Diego.

    Pascal recently taught math and French at the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California. There, Pascale also served as an Academic Advisor, and Middle School volleyball and tennis coach. Pascal received a B.A. in mathematics and an M.A. in French from Middlebury College.

Peter Mihalcik

  • Mandarin

    Peter joins the Modern and Classical Languages Department as an Upper School Mandarin teacher. Peter previously taught Chinese at Saint Andrew’s School in Middletown, Delaware. Peter received a B.A. in Chinese and French from Bates College and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies at Middlebury. Note: Peter originally was hired to work in the admission office. With an August opening to teach Mandarin, we are excited that Peter easily and happily shifted gears.

Nora Spadoni

    Nora was recently a classroom teaching assistant and tutor at Shoesmith Elementary in Chicago and a teaching assistant in The University of Chicago’s Biological Sciences Division. Nora holds a B.A. in anthropology from The University of Chicago.

Gerardo Ayes

    Gerardo comes to Masters after spending four years teaching physics and upper level math courses at the Hoosac School in Hoosick Falls, New York. Gerardo earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Pittsburgh.

    Brendan recently was an Upper Division History teacher at Horace Mann School and a course assistant at New York University. Brendan received a dual B.A. in history and English from the University of Montana and a M.Phil. in history from New York University.

Lexy Higgins

    After serving as a leave replacement in the History and Religion Department during the 2020-2021 school year, Lexy returns to the department full-time. Lexy previously taught at Riverdale Country School, Horace Mann School and Prep for Prep. Lexy received a B.A. in American Studies from Yale University.

    Jillian, who joins Masters as Head Librarian and Coordinator for Digital Information and Learning, was the Librarian and Media Specialist at The Harvey School in Katonah, New York. Jillian received a B.A. in History from Texas State University and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from CUNY Queens College with a certificate in Children’s and Young Adult Services. 

Lucas Mount-Finette

    Formerly the Head Upper School Science teacher at The Birch Wathen Lenox School in New York City, Lucas Mount-Finette received a B.A. in biology from The University of Vermont. 

Pierce Wade

    Pierce recently taught Classics and was Department Chair at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York. Pierce graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a B.A. in classics and English literature and earned an M.A. in classical languages from University of Missouri.

    Alexis comes to Masters from the Trinity School. There, Alexis was a physical education and fitness teacher and the head of girls lacrosse. Alexis received a B.A. in rhetoric and communications from University at Albany, an M.S. in TESOL from Mercy College, and an M.A. in physical education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

    Sarah previously taught French at The Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California, and served as the International Study Advisor in The Office of International Programs at Boston College. Sarah earned a B.A. in French Language and Literature from Skidmore College and an M.A. in French Didactics and Pedagogy from Middlebury College. 

Pilar Méndez-Cruz

    Upper School English Teacher Pilar Méndez-Cruz is coming back home. The Masters alum from the Class of 2012 recently taught eighth grade ELA at Madison Park Academy in Oakland, California. Pilar received a B.A. in Sociology from Fordham University and an M.A. in urban education from Loyola Marymount University.

    Lodz was previously an assistant professor at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, and a French instructor at Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Lexington, Kentucky. Lodz received a B.A. and M.A. in French Language and Literature and an M.A. in Teaching World Languages (MATWL), all from the University of Kentucky, Lexington.

    Donna comes to Masters from The Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut, where she served as Math Department Chair and Math Specialist for the Prospect Program. Donna received a B.S. in elementary education from Iona College and an M.S. in special education from the College of New Rochelle.
