Head of School Laura Danforth joins TABS Board of Trustees

The Masters School is delighted to announce that Head of School Laura Danforth has joined The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) as a member of its Board of Trustees. A three-decade veteran of boarding schools, Danforth was appointed along with three other experienced educators.

“TABS is thrilled to welcome these deeply committed, dynamic and talented individuals to the association’s governing body," remarked TABS Executive Director Peter Upham.

The association’s main mission is to promote awareness and understanding of boarding schools, and to expand the applicant pool for member institutions. It is also a comprehensive, indispensable resource for educators who seek training, research, guidance and support on all issues pertaining to the residential school experience.

“As we enter a fresh strategic planning cycle for TABS, these new voices will add immeasurably to the conversation, and will help us envision new and improved ways to create value for boarding schools of every type, size, niche and location,” said Upham.

For Danforth, the appointment to the board constitutes a great privilege. “I am honored to serve in this capacity. I feel it is my responsibility to share the knowledge I’ve accumulated in my years of experience at boarding schools, and to learn all I can about this industry, so that I can better serve The Masters School,” she said.

Danforth’s commitment to the residential life program at Masters is more evident than ever. She recently announced an enhanced seven-day boarding program and a new five-day boarding option starting in the fall of 2019. “Our boarding program is crucial to Masters’ rich tradition and is an essential part of our energetic and diverse community. We aim to add even more value to this program for families near and far who wish to be part of this experience,” she said.

Danforth’s three-year term on the TABS board became effective on July 1, 2018.
