A quick hug for mom. A fist bump with Ms. Danforth. A big smile for your best friend. Drop-off at the Middle School was bustling for the first day of classes on Wednesday, September 6.
“The first day was wonderful,” said Head of Middle School Tasha Elsbach. “There were lots of happy reunions between teachers and students, and students and their friends. I saw teachers and students reaching out to help the new students. It was a great launch to the year.”
The new year for middle school students brings with it a new start time and schedule. This year, first period classes begin at 8:30 a.m. which allows the introduction of X-Band, an optional extra period between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. that is already a successful part of the upper school schedule. During X-Band, teachers offer academic help and support or students can choose to participate in a silent study hall.
