Masters Hosts First-Ever College Preseason Week

Masters’ seniors hit the ground running with their college search process during their first week of school. The College Counseling team organized its first-ever College Preseason Week, designed to break down the major components of the college application process into smaller, more easily digestible pieces.

Events planned from Monday, August 27 until Friday, August 31 included an introduction to the Common Application, a presentation by Lehigh University’s Danielle Luszczyk on the college essay, and the importance of extracurricular activities.

“Bringing in colleagues from the other side of the desk to support our efforts, we aim to dispel myths while simultaneously injecting enthusiasm and optimism into this exciting time in the students’ lives,” said Director of College Counseling Adam Gimple.

Students also had an opportunity to discuss courses, the application process and timelines with their counselors. The College Counseling team plans to make College Preseason Week a yearly tradition.

The goal of the College Counseling Office is to help students make informed educational choices, be experts on the college search process, and advocate for students with college admission offices.

Masters students begin their process in tenth grade. Counselors are dedicated to understanding and helping determine each student’s college goals, and provide knowledgeable advice in order to ensure a timely — and successful — process. More than 130 college representatives visit the Masters campus each year and meet with students.
