Calling all freshman, sophomores and juniors! Would you be interested in exploring the religious and natural landscapes of Thailand?
This summer, The Masters School will travel to three locations in this Southeast Asian country to learn more about Buddhism, Christianity and Islam in central and southern Thailand. The trip will include hiking up a seven-layer waterfall, kayaking among the limestone formations of Phang Na Bay, and navigating through the traffic of Bangkok to the serenity of the early morning Tai Chi sessions.
In addition, Masters School students will have the opportunity to stay with the students of Moo Baan Dek, an alternative education school situated next to the River Kwai in the Kanchanaburi province. Masters students will experience the rhythm of life in this natural setting by attending classes and community meetings, sleeping on mats under mosquito nets, and swimming in the river together with the Thai students. Masters students will also learn from the students about Thai food, language and culture, and will also be able to share information about their lives and cultures with the Thai students.
Applications are due on December 19, by 11:59 PM. A parent meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 11, from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Library Conference Room. If you are unable to attend, please contact robert.fish@mastersny.org to find out how you can "virtually" attend.
