Varsity Girls Soccer Squad Aces Chemistry

For The Masters School's varsity girls soccer team, chemistry isn't just a class to study for — it's a formula for success.

The Panthers have proven it on the field early in the 2025 fall season, bounding out to a 2-1 start.

Masters opened with a 1-0 road win at Horace Mann on September 3 and followed it up with a 2-0 victory over host King School on September 5. Despite suffering a 7-1 setback against visiting powerhouse Greenwich Academy on September 9, the Panthers have earned the right to be optimistic as they jump into the remainder of their regular season schedule.

"Even though we've only been a team for a week and a half, our ability to work together and read each other's runs and movement on the field has been crucial," said captain Lucia Lamprecht ’26. "We all trust each other so much, and it's obvious when we play — whether it's counting on a teammate to send a through ball or trusting the defense to cover the midfield when they go up. How close we've all gotten since the start of the season has been such a big reason as to why we've started the season so strong."

Lamprecht provided the lone goal in the season-opening victory against Horace Mann, burying a precise through ball from Frankie Navin ’28.

"I saw Frankie look up and then send a through ball just off the ground and to my right," Lamprecht said, detailing the goal. "I turned off of my defender, and though I could feel her trailing right behind me, I was just far enough in front to run onto the ball, take one touch forward and shoot. It was just to the right of the keeper, and though she got a hand on it, it wasn't enough to stop the shot, and it went in. The rest of the team all rushed towards me and we celebrated our first goal of the season. It was a really special moment because I felt like in that instant we really started to realize that we are a powerful team with a lot to offer and that we are not going to be an easy team to beat this season."

Eleanor Weisholz-Ditchfield ’28 was the standout against King, anchoring the defense while locking down the opposition's top offensive player.

Masters' dominance in the middle third of the field was key in both victories.

"Our first two games were complete successes mainly due to our ability to control the midfield," captain Maya Yoon ’26 said.

The Panthers will try and maintain the early-season momentum as they travel to face Greens Farms Academy in a Fairchester Athletic Association match on Friday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m.

"As long as we continue to maintain the positive energy we've had since preseason, I think that we will definitely continue to maintain this momentum moving forward into the rest of the season," Lamprecht said. "There is not one player on the team who doesn't show up to practice ready to work and get better, and that is what separates us from other teams. Everyone has such a determination to get better, both for themselves and for her teammates — and that level of grit is what is going to really help us prove to our opponents that we will not be an easy team to beat this year."
