Hazem Miawad works as the sprints and middle distance track coach at Masters, coaching middle and upper school athletes. In his first year in 2023, the team broke 14 school records. He coached the first All-Americans in school history with a 3rd-place finish in the sprint medley relay at The New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Miawad also coached an athlete to run 1:50.88 in the 800m, breaking a 25-year-old New York State high school sophomore class record.
A world-class track athlete who competes professionally for Team Egypt and Empire Elite Track Club, Miawad is a two-time 800-meter Egyptian National Champion, five-time national record holder and placed 22nd at the 2025 World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
Miawad is a 2019 graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. degree in kinesiology and competed on the track and field team for four years. A Big 10 Conference medal winner and NCAA Championships qualifier, Miawad was a member of the 4x400 relay team that still holds both the Maryland indoor and outdoor records. He also ranks in the University’s top 10 all-time in the indoor 500- and 600-meter events.
