Cortney “Coach Cort” Grant serves as the Aquatics Director and head coach of the boys varsity swim team at Masters. He brings more than 20 years of experience in aquatics, youth development, and competitive swimming across Westchester and New York City.
Grant has held leadership roles at several well-known community centers, schools and aquatics programs. His experience includes serving as Aquatics Director at the Carver Center in Port Chester, Aquatics Health and Safety Coordinator at the Rye YMCA, and Aquatics Director for White Plains Recreation & Parks. In school-based programs, he has worked as assistant swim coach at Trinity School in Manhattan, assistant coach at Sarah Lawrence College, assistant varsity coach for E3Sports at Marymount School, and assistant coach of age group team at the JCC of Mid-Westchester. Known for his ability to grow programs rapidly, Grant launched a competitive team in just three weeks at the Carver Center in 2024, guiding athletes from a last-place finish to a top-five ranking the following season.
In addition to his school-based experience, Grant recently founded New Wave Aquatics, which includes the New Wave Swim Club and New Wave Swim Academy. He continues to teach swim lessons, develop young athletes, supervise aquatic operations, and lead safety certifications across the region. His credentials include WSIT, LGI, WSI, CPO, CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, and Babysitter Instructor certifications.
Earlier in his career, Grant helped build Bronx Swim, a community-based swim program, where he contributed to lesson programs, team development, and community engagement for youth in the Bronx and Mount Vernon. He also served as one of the lead swim instructors for Asphalt Green's Waterproofing program that has taught over 500 kids how to swim each year.
He is committed to building strong, inclusive aquatics programs that develop confidence, skill, and a lifelong connection to the water.
