Athletes at The Masters School have been working tirelessly since the start of preseason training on Monday, August 27. They persevered in the face of extreme heat to get ready for the start of the 2018 regular season, which kicks off with a varsity boys’ soccer game at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School on Saturday, September 8.
“Despite the weather and the heat, the atmosphere and excitement in preseason remained high,” Athletic Director Kevin Versen said. “The kids were really focused and ready to play this season.”
The Panthers hope all that hard work will pay off come game time.
“We have some young but talented and skilled players in all our sports,” Versen said.
In addition to boys’ soccer, Masters fields teams in girls’ volleyball, girls’ soccer, girls’ tennis and cross-country during the fall season.
Accompanied by Middle School teachers Dan Russo, Mark Tamucci and Chris Mizell, the sixth-grade boys ventured down to the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Park for their annual seining expedition in the Hudson River on the morning of Friday, September 14.
Last week’s Upper School class trips were full of adventure and excitement: The freshman class enjoyed an overnight retreat, while sophomores visited several New York City sites, and juniors challenged themselves on a ropes course.
